iOS 26.2 Beta Hints at Apple's Upcoming Smart Home Camera and Security Ecosystem
Apple might be making a new camera for your home!
Some secret code found in a new iPhone software update seems to show that Apple is working on new smart home gadgets.
People think it could be a camera or a doorbell.
One expert said Apple plans to make lots of these cameras starting in 2026.
Another person confirmed Apple is also working on other smart home things, like a hub and a little robot.
These new gadgets might be able to tell who is in a room using faces and can see when someone moves.
They could also work with Siri and other Apple devices to do helpful things like turn off lights.
The camera might even last a whole year on one charge!
Code in the iOS 26.2 beta update hints at Apple developing new first-party smart home accessories.
References to a "isFirstPartyAccessory" flag suggest devices beyond Apple TV or HomePod, possibly cameras or doorbells.
Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo predicts mass production of a HomeKit wireless IP camera in 2026 with significant shipment goals.
Bloomberg's Mark Gurman corroborates plans for an indoor security camera, home hub, and tabletop robot within a broader smart home security ecosystem for 2026.
Potential features include long battery life, people/motion detection, facial recognition, and integration with Apple Intelligence and Siri for enhanced home automation.
