Maharashtra Imposes 5x Penalty on Drivers Cancelling Critical Rides
The Maharashtra government has introduced a new rule that makes drivers pay a bigger penalty if they cancel rides to airports, railway stations, or hospitals.
Normally, the penalty is ₹100 or 10% of the fare, but for these important places, it's five times higher.
This is to stop drivers from cancelling rides at the last minute, which can be very frustrating for passengers who are in a hurry.
The money from the penalty goes back to the passenger.
If a passenger cancels without a good reason, they also have to pay a penalty, which goes to the driver.
The government hopes this will make app-based taxi services more reliable.
