Victor Lai's Rise in Badminton Amid Canadian Struggles

Victor Lai is a Canadian badminton player who recently won a bronze medal at the World Championships.

He is now ranked 19th in the world and recently won a match at the India Open Super 750.

However, badminton in Canada is not well-supported, and players often have to self-fund their international campaigns.

Lai and other Canadian players like Brian Yang and Michelle Li have been working hard to make a name for themselves in the sport despite these challenges.

Lai's success is a big deal for Canadian badminton, as no Canadian had won a medal at the World Championships before him.

The players often struggle with finding sponsors, dealing with jet lag, and training on their own.

Despite these difficulties, they are proving that Canadian badminton has a lot of potential.
