WPL 2026 Auction: World Cup Stars Set for Bidding Wars
A big shopping event for cricket teams is happening in the Women's Premier League!
It's called a 'mega auction' where teams pick players for their next season.
Many amazing cricket stars who played in the recent World Cup will be available.
Some players like Phoebe Litchfield were great at scoring runs, while others like Shree Charani and Sophie Ecclestone were fantastic at taking wickets.
Laura Wolvaardt is a very experienced player and captain, and Deepti Sharma is a powerful all-rounder.
Teams will have to decide if they want to spend a lot of money on experienced players or rising stars.
Some players are from India, so they don't count as 'foreign' players, which makes them extra special.
It's going to be exciting to see who teams choose!
The first Women's Premier League (WPL) mega auction is set for November 27, 2025, in Delhi.
Several standout players from the Women's World Cup 2025 are expected to draw significant bids.
Key players include Phoebe Litchfield, Shree Charani, Sophie Ecclestone, Laura Wolvaardt, and Deepti Sharma.
Bids will be influenced by World Cup performance, previous WPL success, and overseas/domestic status.
The auction is anticipated to be highly competitive due to the influx of talented cricketers.

Player Valuation Factors
Team Strategy
Overseas vs. Domestic Player
Player Valuation Factors
Players like Shree Charani are highly valuable because they are domestic talents and do not occupy overseas slots, making them a more flexible and potentially better option for teams with limited overseas player allowances.
Team Strategy
While domestic players offer flexibility, top-tier international stars like Sophie Ecclestone or Laura Wolvaardt, despite occupying overseas slots, bring proven global track records and match-winning performances that teams might prioritize.
WPL Experience vs. World Cup Performance
Player Valuation Factors
Players like Phoebe Litchfield, who haven't had standout WPL seasons but excelled in the World Cup, are seen as future investments with high potential.
Team Strategy
Players like Sophie Ecclestone, who have demonstrated the ability to translate international success directly into WPL performance, are considered less risky and more immediately impactful buys.
