Codava Human Chain Calls for Autonomy and Community Recognition

Codava Human Chain Calls for Autonomy and Community Recognition

The Codava National Council held a peaceful human chain in support of Codava rights.

Its president, N U Nachappa, said Codava culture, land and environment need stronger protection.

The council wants Codavas recognized as a separate animistic faith community.

It also wants a self-governed Codava homeland with geopolitical autonomy.

The group asked for special constitutional protections and recognition as an indigenous community.

It wants Codava spiritual places, called Mandh, and traditional genealogy documented.

The council also wants Codavas recorded as a distinct ethnic community in the 2027 National Census.

The event began in Birunani of Marenaad and ended with the National Anthem.
