Sreedharan to Proceed with Kerala High-Speed Rail
E Sreedharan, known as Metroman, is going to start working on a new high-speed train project in Kerala.
This train will go from Thiruvananthapuram to Kannur and will be able to go as fast as 200 km/h.
Even though the Indian government's budget did not mention this project, Sreedharan is going ahead with it because he doesn't want to wait.
He has already talked to the Railway Minister, who supports the idea.
The Kerala government is also working on a different fast train project, but Sreedharan thinks his project is better.
He wants to start survey work soon because the monsoon will make it hard to work outside later in the year.
He also thinks the Kerala government should stop some old cases related to a previous train project to make people happier about the new one.
E Sreedharan to proceed with survey work for a high-speed rail line in Kerala despite its exclusion from the Union Budget.
The proposed rail line will connect Thiruvananthapuram to Kannur with a maximum speed of 200 km/h.
Sreedharan has assured support from the Railway Minister and will open an office for the project on Monday.
The Kerala government is moving forward with a different Regional Rapid Transit System project.
Sreedharan estimates the cost of preparing the detailed project report (DPR) at Rs 13.1 crore.
