Mathieu Darche Takes Helm as Islanders' New GM
The New York Islanders have a new boss, Mathieu Darche, who's now in charge of making big decisions.
He needs to figure out what to do with the team's coach, Patrick Roy, and decide if the team needs new players or if they should stick with the ones they have.
He also needs to negotiate new contracts for some players and decide if they should keep some older players.
He's also working on improving the team's minor league teams and the team's overall image.
Mathieu Darche is the new General Manager of the New York Islanders, replacing Lou Lamoriello.
Darche faces immediate decisions regarding head coach Patrick Roy and the team's roster.
The team's direction, either rebuild or retool, is under evaluation.
Darche needs to handle contract negotiations with restricted free agents and consider extending veteran players.
He also aims to rebuild the minor league system and revitalize the franchise's brand.
