IIT Kharagpur Launches MSc in Nuclear Medicine
IIT Kharagpur has teamed up with the Chittaranjan National Cancer Institute (CNCI) and the Variable Energy Cyclotron Centre (VECC) to start new MSc programmes in nuclear medicine and medical physics.
These programmes will help train people in important areas that are crucial for fighting cancer and doing advanced medical research.
The programmes will begin in the 2026-27 academic year and students will be admitted through the Joint Admission Test for Master’s (JAM).
The goal is to make India stronger in these fields by having more skilled professionals.
The collaboration also aims to improve healthcare facilities, including using AI for cancer treatments.
Important leaders from all three institutions signed an agreement to make this happen.
IIT Kharagpur, CNCI, and VECC have signed an MoU to launch MSc programmes in nuclear medicine and medical physics.
The programmes will be offered by the School of Medical Science and Technology (SMST) at IIT Kharagpur, starting in the academic session 2026-27.
Admissions will be through the Joint Admission Test for Master’s (JAM).
The collaboration aims to strengthen national capacity for skilled human resources in nuclear medicine and medical physics, critical for cancer diagnosis, treatment, and advanced clinical research.
The MoU was signed by IIT Kharagpur Director Suman Chakraborty, CNCI Director Dr Jayanta Chakrabarti, and VECC Director Sumit Som.
