Stella Bossi Reflects After Mumbai Gig Halted Over Permit
Stella Bossi was performing music at a Mumbai pub when officials stopped the show.
The performance had lasted about 50 minutes.
Bossi first thought the officials were police because they wore khaki uniforms.
Mumbai Police later explained that the officials were from the Maharashtra State Excise Department.
Authorities said the event did not have all the permits needed for a large, ticketed show at that venue.
The event had originally been planned for the Cruise Terminal but was moved to antiSOCIAL after permission was denied there.
The pub could serve alcohol, but that license was not enough for this kind of event.
Bossi later said nightlife should become safer and that nobody should lose their life while enjoying a night out.
She also said people should discuss safety without blaming one another or removing what makes nightlife special.
German-Italian DJ Stella Bossi’s set at antiSOCIAL in Lower Parel was stopped about 50 minutes after it began.
Maharashtra State Excise Department officials, mistaken for police because of their khaki uniforms, intervened at the venue.
Mumbai Police clarified that its personnel did not stop the concert.
Authorities said organizers lacked a mandatory one-day club or party permit and venue-specific safety and commercial-event clearances.
Bossi later said stricter nightlife regulations are understandable and urged continued efforts to keep people safe without diminishing nightlife culture.
