GST Demands for Redington and Akzo Nobel
Two companies, Redington Ltd and Akzo Nobel India Ltd, received big bills from the government for not paying some taxes correctly.
Redington got a bill for ₹148.33 crore covering three financial years.
The company says this won't affect its money or work and recently reported good results with a 32% increase in profit and a 16.8% increase in revenue.
Akzo Nobel initially faced a bill of ₹176.65 crore, but it was reduced to ₹41.56 lakh after they showed documents.
Both companies are working to respond to these bills.
The shares of both companies were slightly down on December 31 and January 1 respectively.
Redington Ltd received a GST assessment order of ₹148.33 crore, including interest and penalty, for FY19-FY22.
The demand arises from the disallowance of input tax credit claimed during the financial years under Section 74 of the GST Act.
The order was received and uploaded on the GST portal on December 30, 2025.
Redington reported a 32% year-on-year growth in net profit to ₹388 crore for Q2FY26.
Akzo Nobel India Ltd's initial GST demand of ₹176.65 crore was revised to ₹41.56 lakh after submission of supporting documents.
