Four Uttarakhand Tax Officials Arrested in Shimla Valuables Theft

Police say valuables worth more than Rs 1 crore were stolen from a hotelier’s home in Shimla.

The theft allegedly happened on the night of September 7.

Investigators say the housemaid put a sedative in the employer’s food.

She then allegedly left with three associates and many valuables.

The group reportedly tried to travel toward Nepal.

At a border checkpoint, four Uttarakhand government personnel allegedly stopped them.

Police say those personnel kept some of the stolen items instead of handing them over.

The four personnel were arrested in Rudrapur.

Police recovered nearly 80% of the stolen property and are looking for the rest.
