US Offers $3,000 for Self-Deportation by Year-End
The US government is offering $3,000 and a free flight to illegal residents who agree to leave the country by December 31 using a special app.
This is a temporary offer to encourage people to leave on their own.
If they don't, the government will find and arrest them.
People who leave voluntarily might have an easier time coming back legally in the future.
The offer ends at the end of the year, and after that, the government will continue to enforce immigration laws as usual.
The US DHS is offering $3,000 and a free flight to illegal residents who self-deport by December 31 using the CBP Home app.
This offer is a temporary increase from the previous $1,000 incentive.
Around 1.9 million people have voluntarily left the US since January 2025, with tens of thousands using the CBP Home program.
Those who self-deport through the app will have their civil fines or penalties for overstaying forgiven.
Voluntary self-deportation may offer better chances for future legal entry compared to forced deportation.
