NCLAT Rejects DoT Plea, Upholds ₹900-Crore Plan
A company called Rolta India was in trouble and had to pay a lot of money.
The government, called the Department of Telecommunications, wanted to get back a big part of that money.
A court called NCLAT looked at the plan to pay back the money and said the government could only get a tiny amount.
The plan gave most of the money to other creditors.
The court said the plan was fair and kept it in place.
This means the government will get only a small share of the money Rolta owes.
NCLAT dismissed the Centre's appeal to recover ₹179.19 crore from Rolta India.
The tribunal upheld the ₹900‑crore resolution plan approved by NCLT, allocating only ₹10 lakh to the Department of Telecommunications.
DoT originally claimed ₹469 crore in unpaid licence fees, but the plan treats its dues as operational debt, ranking below financial creditors.
Secured creditors recover 11.41% of claims, unsecured 0.96%, while government authorities recover just 0.06% of admitted claims.
Rolta India entered insolvency with liabilities over ₹14,074 crore and total creditor claims exceeding ₹22,546 crore.
