IIT Delhi PhD Scholar Dies After 45 Days; FIR Registered
A 40-year-old student who was working toward a PhD at IIT Delhi was found badly hurt in his rented home in Munirka on August 18.
The door was locked from the inside, so neighbours broke it open.
Police took him to the AIIMS Trauma Centre for treatment.
He stayed in the hospital for more than 45 days and died on October 3.
Police registered a case the next day under a law section about helping someone die by suicide.
They said the case was registered after directions from the Supreme Court and a complaint from an IIT security officer.
Police also said the incident happened outside the IIT Delhi campus.
They said the family and witnesses had not accused anyone of wrongdoing.
