UP to install 5 advanced radars for better weather forecasting
Uttar Pradesh is getting five new high-tech weather radars to help predict the weather more accurately.
These radars will be placed in Lucknow, Azamgarh, Jhansi, Aligarh, and Varanasi.
The state government is installing four of them, and the India Meteorological Department (IMD) is installing one in Varanasi.
These radars can track clouds in 3D, which will help in giving short-term weather forecasts.
Additionally, 2,450 automatic weather stations and 2,000 automatic rain gauge stations are being set up across the state.
There are also plans to install wind profiler radars in Lucknow and Varanasi in the next year.
Under the 'Mission Mausam' scheme, new observation systems will be set up in Bareilly, Deoria, and Prayagraj in the next 1.5 years.
All these efforts will make weather predictions more accurate and help in managing disasters better.
Uttar Pradesh is installing 5 advanced dual-polarimetric Doppler radar systems for better weather forecasting.
The radars will be located in Lucknow, Azamgarh, Jhansi, Aligarh, and Varanasi, with four installed by the state government and one by the IMD in Varanasi.
These radars can track cloud reflectivity and 3D structure, improving short-term weather forecasting.
2,450 automatic weather stations and 2,000 automatic rain gauge stations are being established at the block level.
Wind profiler radars are proposed for Lucknow and Varanasi, with an operational timeline of one year.
