RBI October MPC May Bring First Rate Hike Since 2023

RBI October MPC May Bring First Rate Hike Since 2023

The Reserve Bank of India will meet to decide whether borrowing costs should rise.

The meeting will happen from October 5 to 7, 2026.

The decision will be announced on October 7 at 10:00 a.m.

Many economists think the RBI may raise the repo rate by 0.25 percentage points.

That would take the rate from 5.25% to 5.50%.

Prices have been rising faster, with inflation reaching 4.82% in August.

Higher energy costs and pressure on the rupee are also making policymakers consider a rate increase.

However, some experts think the RBI may wait and keep rates unchanged while warning that future increases are possible.
