Allahabad HC Triples Compensation for Truck Accident Victim
A man who lost his leg in a truck accident when he was 16 years old has finally received justice after a long legal battle.
The Allahabad High Court decided that the insurance company must pay him much more money than they originally offered.
The court said that because he can't work anymore due to his injury, he should get three times the amount that was first given to him.
The accident happened in 2009, and the court's decision was made last week.
The man was working as a helper on a truck when he was hit and badly hurt.
The insurance company tried to say he wasn't working and didn't deserve as much money, but the court disagreed and increased his compensation to help him with his pain and future losses.
A 32-year-old man lost his leg in a truck accident at age 16 and fought for 10 years for adequate compensation.
The Allahabad High Court ruled in his favor, tripling the compensation from Rs 5.03 lakh to Rs 16.59 lakh.
The court considered his 100% functional disability and his status as a skilled workman at the time of the accident.
The initial compensation was awarded by the Motor Accident Claims Tribunal in 2015.
The insurance company argued for a lower compensation, but the court enhanced it significantly.
