Visakhapatnam Railway Station Marks 130 Years of Rail Heritage
Visakhapatnam Railway Station has been serving travelers for 130 years.
It opened in 1896 with only two platforms.
At that time, about 200 people used it each day.
Today, more than 65,000 passengers use the station daily.
The station now has eight platforms.
Railway officials celebrated the anniversary with a festival, cultural events and historical exhibitions.
The displays included old photographs and railway objects from the past.
Officials also released a book about the station’s history.
They said the station is planned to grow to 14 platforms with modern facilities.
