Tribeca Festival Expands to Include Social Media Creators
The Tribeca Festival is celebrating its 25th anniversary in 2026 by including social media creators in its official program.
This means videos from TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube will be shown alongside traditional films.
The festival has always been open to new ways of storytelling and has featured projects from these platforms before.
They will look at the whole body of work of creators, not just individual pieces, when deciding what to include.
This is a big step to bring digital storytellers together with the traditional film industry and help them reach new audiences.
Tribeca Festival will include social media creators in its 25th anniversary edition in June 2026.
Videos from TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube will be featured alongside traditional films.
The NOW strand, launched in 2014, has previously showcased projects like Lena Waithe’s Hello Cupid and Oscar-nominated The Letter Room.
Submissions are due by February 5 and will be evaluated based on content, body of work, and storytelling voice.
Tribeca has a history of incorporating new platforms, including transmedia, gaming, and podcasting, and has initiatives like UpNext Creators to support emerging talent.
