Trump EPA Ends Climate Regulations for Fossil-Fuel Power Plants

Trump EPA Ends Climate Regulations for Fossil-Fuel Power Plants

The Environmental Protection Agency is removing rules that limited climate pollution from coal and gas power plants.

These rules were created during Joe Biden’s presidency.

They required power plants to cut emissions or use technology such as carbon capture.

The Trump administration says the rules were unfair and too difficult for power companies to follow.

It says removing them could save $310 billion and help keep some plants open.

Environmental groups say the decision removes an important way to reduce pollution.

The EPA also wants to say that it does not have authority to regulate power-plant greenhouse gases for climate reasons.

Lawsuits against the decision are expected.
