Hariprasad Pandian Builds Performance Into Enterprise Software Design

Hariprasad Pandian studies how computer systems behave when many people use them at once.

He tries to find performance problems before a system is finished.

He began doing this work at BT Telecom in 2006.

At Zions Bank, he helped make performance checks part of the normal software-building process.

On one Duke Energy project, his design changes made processing much faster and allowed more users.

On another project, he reduced a Hadoop job from about nine hours to three.

He has also written a technical book, published research, and received professional honors.

His main idea is that performance should be designed into software instead of fixed only after problems appear.
