Mumbai Hosts Math Events
In Mumbai, two big math events happened.
One was a fun math festival called Sigmatics, organized by college students to make math exciting for school kids.
They had games, races, and competitions.
The other was a global math conference where top mathematicians talked about how math helps in technology and AI.
Both events wanted to show that math is important and can be fun.
The college students and the math institute both want more kids to like math and maybe even study it more in the future.
They also talked about how math is super important for things like AI, which is a big deal these days.
The math institute even plans to start math clubs for school kids to explore math in a fun way.
Sigmatics is a one-day math festival organized by MSc Mathematics students at Homi Bhabha State University (HBSU) in Mumbai.
The event includes activities like a skit, relay race, math-themed games, quiz, sudoku, and an essay-writing competition.
20 schools, with 5 students each, are invited to participate in Sigmatics every year.
The event aims to make math more engaging and less intimidating for school kids, providing a platform for experiential learning.
