KMC Requires NOCs for Durga Puja Advertising Hoardings This Year
The Kolkata Municipal Corporation is making Durga Puja committees get permission before putting up temporary advertisements.
The permission is called a no-objection certificate, or NOC.
Committees must apply between September 20 and 25.
The advertisements can be displayed from October 3 to October 28.
Structures cannot be taller than 22 feet.
They must not block roads, bus shelters or approved street advertisements.
Committees must remove everything after the festival and pay for the work themselves.
The rule was introduced because many advertisements were left behind after previous festivals.
Puja committees must obtain a Kolkata Municipal Corporation NOC for temporary advertising hoardings, banners and flexes for the first time.
Applications will be accepted at KMC headquarters from September 20 to 25 in a specified format.
Temporary advertising structures may be displayed from October 3 to 28 and must be removed within seven days of Bijoya Dashami.
Bamboo scaffolding and other temporary structures cannot exceed 22 feet and cannot be placed on road dividers or median verges.
Committees must provide structure and location details, accept responsibility for safety, and face possible penalties for failing to remove advertisements.
