Maruti Suzuki Dzire Outsells All Sedans Combined in 2025
The Maruti Suzuki Dzire, a compact sedan, has surprisingly sold more than all other sedans combined in India in 2025.
This is unusual because SUVs are very popular in India.
The Dzire's success is due to its safety features, CNG options, and the fact that another sedan, the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, is no longer being made.
Even though electric sedan sales are low, people still want to buy sedans like the Dzire.
Dzire sold 174,334 units from Jan-Oct 2025, outpacing other sedans' combined sales of 142,456 units
This is a reversal from 2024, when Dzire sold 167,988 units, while other sedans sold 177,857 units
Dzire's success is attributed to its safety ratings, CNG variants, and absorption of Ciaz's market share
SUVs dominate the Indian market, but Dzire's performance shows sedan demand persists
Electric sedan sales remain low, with Tata Tigor's total sales at 11,596 units
