Trinamool Congress rift deepens in Cooch Behar
There is a big fight happening in the Trinamool Congress party in Cooch Behar, West Bengal.
The family of a murdered party leader, Amar Roy, has accused some senior party members, including Rabindranath Ghosh, of being involved in his killing.
Ghosh and his supporters deny these accusations and say they are being framed.
The situation is getting worse because the Chief Minister of West Bengal, Mamata Banerjee, is visiting soon.
The family has even sent a complaint to the police naming the accused.
The police have arrested five people so far, but this is the first time the family has directly accused party leaders.
The fight is also about who should be the district president of the party, with some wanting a leader from the Rajbanshi community to replace the current one.
Amar Roy, a Trinamool Congress leader, was murdered on August 9 in Cooch Behar.
His father, Mahim Roy, accused Rabindranath Ghosh and other party leaders of involvement in the murder.
Ghosh and his aides denied the allegations, calling them a conspiracy and demanding a CID probe.
The rift within the party has deepened, with demands for the removal of the district president.
Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is scheduled to visit Cooch Behar, adding political sensitivity to the situation.
