Heavy Rain Floods Dakshina Kannada, Kerala Districts
Heavy rain in a part of India called Dakshina Kannada made the Netravati River very high, almost at a dangerous level.
Water from two big dams also added to the problem, so many low places got flooded.
A local politician, MLA Rajesh Naik, told people to move 15 families away from the river.
The flood stopped cars on a main road and even made a hill collapse.
Rescue teams from the National Disaster Response Force went to help.
In a nearby state, Kerala, the same heavy rain flooded houses and shops in Kasaragod district, and people are using boats to rescue people.
Heavy rainfall in Dakshina Kannada district has caused widespread flooding, with the Netravati River reaching 8.4 meters, close to its danger level of 8.5 meters.
Releases from the AMR and MRPL dams have increased water volume, submerging low‑lying areas such as Panemangaluru, Kotekani, and others.
The MLA has ordered the relocation of fifteen families living along the riverbanks to safer locations.
Flooding has halted traffic on the Bantwal–Belthangady road, collapsed a roadside hill in Savanalu, and forced NDRF units to conduct rescue operations in Belthangady and Ujire.
Similar heavy rains in Kerala’s Kasaragod district have flooded houses and shops, prompting rescue work with boats.
