Use E20 Petrol With Confidence, Centre Tells Consumers
Gas stations in India sell a special kind of fuel called E20 petrol.
Some news reports said this fuel might contain tiny amounts of water and salt.
That made some drivers worried about their cars.
The government's Petroleum and Natural Gas Ministry said there is no need to worry.
Oil companies tested fuel samples all across the country.
The tests showed the fuel quality is well within safe limits.
Every gas station now checks the fuel many times each day.
Special mobile laboratories also travel from place to place to test the fuel.
The government says people should keep using E20 petrol with confidence.
The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas said consumers should use E20 petrol with confidence, citing robust quality assurance and monitoring systems.
Amid media reports on moisture and chloride in E20 petrol, oil marketing companies (OMCs) carried out nationwide intensive testing covering the entire EBMS supply chain.
The findings reaffirm that fuel quality remains consistently well within prescribed limits, with no cause for alarm over contamination.
OMCs strengthened surveillance by conducting water-ingress and density tests 8-12 times daily at every retail outlet.
More than 100 randomly selected petrol samples tested across refineries showed chloride content at or below 1 ppm, with mobile fuel quality testing laboratories deployed.
