HDFC Bank Fast-Tracks CEO Search as Jagdishan Exits

Sashidhar Jagdishan has decided not to continue as HDFC Bank’s chief executive.

He will leave when his current term ends on October 26, 2026.

The bank now needs to find a new leader quickly because there are less than two months until his departure.

Kaizad Bharucha, a senior executive who has worked at the bank since 1995, is one possible choice.

Some reports also mention Jimmy Tata as an internal candidate, while other reports say the bank is considering an outsider.

India’s central bank must approve the final appointment.

HDFC Bank has recently faced questions about its leadership, governance and business practices.

Its shares have fallen about 27% this year.

Some analysts believe a new CEO and chairman could help the bank, while another expert remains confident in its long-term future.
