India Open 2026: Promotions and Withdrawals
The BWF India Open 2026 is happening from January 13-18, 2026.
Some top players like Shi Yuqi and Akane Yamaguchi had to withdraw, which means other players like Tanvi Sharma and Tharun Mannepalli get to play in the main tournament instead.
Tanvi will play against a strong player from China in the first round, and if she wins, she might play against PV Sindhu.
Tharun will play against Kidambi Srikanth.
The tournament is special because it's being held at the same place where the World Championships will be later in the year.
PV Sindhu and the men's doubles team of Chirag Shetty and Satwiksairaj Rankireddy are excited to play at home.
Tanvi Sharma and Tharun Mannepalli promoted to the main draw due to withdrawals.
Shi Yuqi, Weng Hong Yang, and Akane Yamaguchi withdrew from the tournament.
Tanvi Sharma to face Wang Zhi Yi in the opening round, with a potential match against PV Sindhu in the second round.
