Opposition Protests Continue Over SIR Amid BLO Suicides
The Opposition MPs are very upset about the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral rolls.
They say it's causing too much stress for the Booth-Level Officers (BLOs), and many BLOs have died by suicide.
The Opposition wants to talk about this in Parliament, but the government doesn't want to.
They are protesting outside the Parliament to make their point.
The Election Commission of India (ECI) also shared a dance video of BLOs, which many people thought was not respectful because of the suicides.
The Opposition says the government and the ECI are not being responsible and need to answer for what's happening.
Opposition MPs continue to protest against the SIR of electoral rolls, demanding a debate in Parliament.
The protest is scheduled for 10:30 am outside the Makar Dwar of Parliament ahead of the second day of the Winter Session.
Over a dozen BLOs have died by suicide amid the SIR exercise, causing widespread concern.
The ECI faced criticism for sharing a 48-second dance video of BLOs, seen as insensitive given the suicides.
The Opposition accuses the government of not being accountable and demands a discussion on the SIR and its impact.
