AP to Continue Drawing Water from Dam for Irrigation
Imagine a big lake (the dam) full of water that farmers need to grow their crops.
Andhra Pradesh wants to take some water from this lake to help their farms.
They started taking water on Wednesday.
Another state, Telangana, is not happy about this and complained.
AP says there's lots of water in the lake because of recent rains, and they need it for their crops.
Both states are allowed to take a specific amount of water from the lake.
Andhra Pradesh (AP) plans to draw water from the Nagarjunasagar (NS) Dam's Right Canal for irrigation.
AP started drawing 500 cusecs of water on Wednesday after good inflows from upstream projects.
Telangana complained to the Krishna River Management Board (KRMB) about AP's water drawal.
AP argues it needs water for irrigation and the dam is near full capacity.
Both AP and Telangana are permitted to draw specific amounts of water from the dam.
