Kerala Chopper Contract Leaves Satheesan Facing Political Dilemma

Kerala Chopper Contract Leaves Satheesan Facing Political Dilemma

Kerala rents a helicopter for government work.

The rental agreement ends on September 19.

The police chief says the helicopter is useful during disasters and other emergencies.

He wants the government to rent it for two more years.

The helicopter costs Rs 80 lakh every month for a set number of flying hours.

V.D. Satheesan once criticised this expense when he was in opposition.

Now he is the Chief Minister and must make the decision himself.

Keeping it could invite criticism, while ending it could make emergency flights harder to arrange.
