Bengaluru Faces Garbage Tax Controversy Amidst Crackdown
Bengaluru is trying to clean up its garbage problem!
The government is making people pay a garbage tax based on how big their house is and fining people who litter.
The government is also checking to make sure garbage is collected properly.
The opposition party, the BJP, is not happy about this and says it's like being taxed twice.
They think the government is being unfair by charging for waste collection and also collecting other taxes, too.
Bengaluru's government is cracking down on waste disposal and enforcing garbage tax.
The garbage tax is based on property size, ranging from Rs 10 to Rs 400 monthly.
Fines of Rs 2,000 are imposed for illegal waste dumping.
200 marshals and 200 health inspectors are enforcing waste management rules.
The BJP opposes the garbage tax, calling it double taxation.
