Malaysia Charges Top Military Officers Over Corruption

Malaysia's Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) is charging two high-ranking military officers, Muhammad Hafizuddiean Jantan and Mohd Nizam Jaafar, for corruption.

Hafizuddiean is accused of money laundering, while Jaafar faces charges of abuse of power, criminal breach of trust, and accepting illegal gifts.

The MACC has been investigating bribery related to army procurement projects and has frozen all related procurement decisions.

Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim announced that all procurement decisions linked to the corruption probe will be reviewed for transparency.

The MACC is also investigating two other senior military officers.

Hafizuddiean has been on leave since December, and Jaafar retired earlier this month.
