Kerala Leaders Clash Over Communal Politics
A leader named Vellappally Natesan, who is from the Ezhava community, said that if a group called the Congress-led UDF wins the next big election in Kerala, another group called the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) will be in charge.
He thinks this is bad and wants Hindus and Christians to work together.
Another leader named V D Satheesan from the Congress party said he did not call Natesan communal but was criticizing the Chief Minister for honoring Natesan despite his communal remarks.
Satheesan also said he would stand firm by his secular position and would not dilute it for electoral gains.
Natesan accused the IUML of creating hurdles in unity between the Nair and Ezhava communities, while Satheesan questioned how the IUML could have played any role in creating rifts between the SNDP Yogam and the Nair Service Society (NSS).
Vellappally Natesan warned that the IUML would rule Kerala if the Congress-led UDF wins the upcoming Assembly election.
Natesan called for a broader alliance of Hindu and Christian communities in Kerala.
