Mumbai Customs Arrest 62-Year-Old Man Over ₹2.80-Crore Weed
Customs officers at Mumbai Airport stopped a 62-year-old passenger arriving from Kuala Lumpur.
They suspected that he was carrying hidden drugs.
The passenger had crossed through the green channel.
Officers searched his trolley bag and found plastic packets and aluminium boxes.
Inside them were 32 packets containing alleged hydroponic weed.
The seized material weighed about 8 kilograms and was valued at around ₹2.80 crore.
Officials said the passenger admitted hiding and not declaring it for money.
Investigators are looking for other people who may have helped.
Mumbai Airport Customs intercepted and arrested 62-year-old Amir Ahmed Badsha after he allegedly crossed the green channel from Kuala Lumpur.
Officials found 32 packets of alleged hydroponic weed concealed in plastic packets and aluminium boxes inside his trolley bag.
Approximately 8 kilograms of the substance was seized, with an estimated value of ₹2.80 crore.
Customs said Badsha admitted non-declaration, concealment, recovery and seizure of the substance for monetary consideration.
Investigators said other people may be involved and that efforts are underway to identify and apprehend them.
