Mumbai Airport Customs intercepted and arrested 62-year-old Amir Ahmed Badsha after he allegedly crossed the green channel from Kuala Lumpur.
Officials found 32 packets of alleged hydroponic weed concealed in plastic packets and aluminium boxes inside his trolley bag.
Approximately 8 kilograms of the substance was seized, with an estimated value of ₹2.80 crore.
Customs said Badsha admitted non-declaration, concealment, recovery and seizure of the substance for monetary consideration.
Investigators said other people may be involved and that efforts are underway to identify and apprehend them.
