Albania Court Places Spy Chief Under House Arrest

Albania’s intelligence chief, Vlora Hyseni, has been ordered to stay at home while prosecutors investigate her.

They suspect she shared secret government information with people who were not allowed to receive it.

The accusation is connected to a larger corruption investigation involving Albania’s digital-services agency.

A special office called SPAK is leading the investigation.

Prime Minister Edi Rama said Hyseni had already been removed from her job.

He also said a new intelligence chief would be chosen.

Hyseni has not publicly commented in the report.

The case does not mean she has been found guilty, because a final court decision has not been made.
