IIT Delhi develops AI for autonomous lab experiments
Scientists from IIT Delhi and their friends from Denmark and Germany made a smart AI called AILA.
AILA can do science experiments all by itself.
It can use special science tools, make choices during the experiments, and understand the results without any help from people.
They wrote about this in a science magazine called Nature Communications.
This is a big step because it means AI can now do some of the work that scientists usually do in labs.
AILA helps scientists do their work much faster, but it still has some problems, like making mistakes sometimes.
The Indian government is also supporting this kind of research to make science better for everyone.
IIT Delhi researchers, along with collaborators from Denmark and Germany, developed an AI agent named AILA.
AILA can independently operate scientific instruments, make real-time decisions, and analyze data.
The research was published in the journal Nature Communications.
AILA is designed to automate atomic force microscopy experiments, significantly speeding up tasks that previously took a full day.
The development highlights both the potential and challenges of AI in scientific research, including safety concerns and the need for robust safety measures.
