Ramco Cements Escapes Tamil Nadu Mineral Land Tax After Amendments

Ramco Cements is a company that makes cement using limestone.

It had been paying Tamil Nadu a tax on land containing minerals.

The tax was ₹160 for each tonne of limestone.

A new change to India’s mining law limits some taxes that state governments can charge on mineral land.

Ramco Cements said it does not have to pay this tax from August 22, 2026.

The company had already paid large amounts of money under the tax.

It expects the change to reduce its costs.

This could help the company keep more money and improve its profits.
