TMC Leader Arrested for Harassing Singer
A man named Mehboob Malik, who is a leader in the TMC party, got very upset when a singer named Lagnajita Chakraborty sang a Hindu religious song at a school event.
He went on stage and told her to stop singing the religious song and sing something secular instead.
He even tried to hit her.
The singer went to the police, but they first refused to help.
Later, the police arrested Mehboob Malik.
His brother said they just wanted a secular song for the school event, but the singer said she wants the police to take the matter seriously.
The BJP party said that West Bengal is controlled by people who are telling singers what they can and cannot sing.
The TMC party said they have nothing to do with Malik and accused the BJP of making the situation worse by talking about religion.
