22-Year-Old Tourist Dies After Falling Off Naneghat Cliff

A 22-year-old tourist named Datta Vinayak Londhe died after falling off a cliff at the Naneghat mountain pass in Pune district.

He was visiting the popular tourist spot when he slipped and fell from a cliff near a viewpoint called 'Nana's Thumb' due to dense fog and strong winds.

Rescue teams, including officials from the Forest Department, conducted an overnight search operation using a thermal drone to locate his body.

The incident highlights the dangers of visiting hill forts and cliff viewpoints during the monsoon season, with poor visibility, slippery terrain, and strong winds increasing the risks for tourists.

Authorities have repeatedly urged visitors to exercise caution and avoid venturing close to cliff edges during adverse weather conditions.
