Chandigarh Employees Can Opt for Unified Pension Scheme
Employees working for the Chandigarh administration can now pick how they get their pension.
They can choose a new plan called the Unified Pension Scheme (UPS).
The UPS promises a set amount of money every month when they retire, if they have worked for at least 25 years.
This is different from the National Pension System (NPS), where the pension amount isn't fixed.
The Chandigarh administration adopted a new rule allowing this choice, based on a government notification.
The UPS guarantees 50% of the average salary for the last 12 months before retirement.
Chandigarh Administration allows regular employees to choose the Unified Pension Scheme (UPS).
The UT adopted a Ministry of Finance notification on UPS for employees.
