Vadodara: New Bridge Proposed for Kamatibaug Zoo
Imagine a bridge in a zoo that is closed because it's not safe anymore.
The city wants to build a new one to make it easier for people and zoo staff to get around.
The first time, the cost was too high, so the city said no.
They even thought about fixing the old bridge, but experts said that wasn't possible.
Now, the city is considering the project again with the same contractor, hoping to build a new bridge at the zoo so people don't have to walk so far to see the animals, and the zoo staff can get their work done more easily.
The Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) plans to construct a new bridge at Kamatibaug Zoo.
The existing bridge, closed in 2023 due to safety concerns, was built during Maharaja Sayajirao Gaekwad III's reign.
The initial proposal for a new bridge was rejected due to the contractor's high bid.
A report confirmed the old bridge could not be repaired, and zoo operations are disrupted.
A revised proposal with the original bid is under consideration by the standing committee.
