Probe Ordered into Milk Cooperative Payments to Dead
Imagine a milk company that pays people who have already died.
That's what's being investigated in Vadodara, India.
A politician noticed that a milk cooperative was still sending money to the bank accounts of people who were no longer alive.
He found that almost ₹40 lakh was paid to these deceased members, and someone was taking the money out of their accounts.
The politician suspects that the officials of the cooperative were making false payments.
Now, the government is looking into what happened to figure out if the milk cooperative did something wrong and where the money went.
The Vadodara district registrar ordered an inquiry into a milk cooperative.
The inquiry follows allegations of improper payments to deceased members.
BJP MLA Ketan Inamdar brought the issue to light with details of payments to five individuals.
A total of ₹39.93 lakh was paid to deceased members between 2020 and 2024.
Inamdar suspects that no milk was supplied, and the payments were made by errant officials.
