IndiGo Seeks Rs 900 Crore Refund
IndiGo, the airline company, went to the Delhi High Court to ask for Rs 900 crore back.
This money was paid as Customs duty on airplane parts that were sent abroad for repairs and then brought back to India.
IndiGo says they already paid taxes once when they brought the parts back, but the Customs authorities want to charge them again.
The court will now decide if this is fair or not.
Additionally, IndiGo has been fined Rs 59 crore for GST-related issues, which they plan to contest.
IndiGo seeks refund of Rs 900 crore paid as Customs duty on re-imported aircraft parts.
The company argues that levying Customs duty again on re-imports is unconstitutional and amounts to double taxation.
IndiGo had already paid basic Customs duty and GST on the re-imported parts.
Justice Shail Jain recused herself from the case due to a conflict of interest.
The matter will be heard by another bench as per the chief justice's orders.
