Christopher Nolan Bans Orchestra for The Odyssey

Christopher Nolan Bans Orchestra for The Odyssey

Christopher Nolan, the director of The Odyssey, decided not to use a traditional orchestra for the film's music.

Instead, composer Ludwig Göransson used unusual instruments like bronze gongs, ancient reeds, and even found objects like scrap metal to create the soundtrack.

This approach was chosen to make the ancient world feel more real and different from other historical movies.

The score also includes modern elements like synthesisers and vocals from James Blake.

Nolan wanted the film to feel timeless and immersive, which is why he also chose to shoot it for IMAX.

Göransson, who has won three Oscars, was up for the challenge and created a unique sound that blends ancient and modern elements.
