Credit Card Spending Dips Marginally in June 2025
In June 2025, people used credit cards a little less than they did in May, according to the RBI.
Overall, people spent less money using their credit cards, both online and at stores.
The total amount spent dropped from ₹1.89 lakh crore to ₹1.83 lakh crore.
This might be because people are being more careful with their money, and banks are issuing fewer new cards.
However, experts think that things will get better soon, as interest rates are going down and inflation is slowing down, which could encourage more spending.
Credit card spending dipped slightly in June 2025, according to the Reserve Bank of India (RBI).
Total credit card transactions in June were valued at ₹1.83 lakh crore, down from ₹1.89 lakh crore in May.
Online credit card transactions decreased to ₹1.15 lakh crore from ₹1.20 lakh crore the previous month.
Point-of-sale (PoS) spending also fell to ₹67,000 crore from ₹69,600 crore.
The number of outstanding credit cards remained stable, indicating a pause in new card issuances.
