Supreme Court Orders IAF to Reinduct War Widow Officer

Supreme Court Orders IAF to Reinduct War Widow Officer

The Supreme Court has ordered the Indian Air Force to bring Priyanka Saxena back into service.

Saxena had previously worked in the Air Force for 10 years.

She left in 2013 because of family responsibilities.

Her husband, Wing Commander Harshit Sinha, later died in an Air Force plane crash.

Saxena has two young daughters.

She asked to return after his death, but her request was rejected partly because she was older than the usual age limit.

The court said her earlier experience and personal circumstances deserved special consideration.

She will complete one year of refresher training and medical checks.

If she qualifies, she will return as a Squadron Leader, with her earlier service counted.
