Mizoram completes biometric enrolment for 62.95% of Myanmar refugees
Mizoram has finished taking fingerprints and other biometric data from almost two-thirds of the refugees from Myanmar living in the state.
The government started this process in July to register all the refugees.
So far, they have registered about 19,458 out of 30,908 refugees.
The district with the most refugees, Champhai, has the lowest registration rate because of technical problems and the large number of people.
Other districts like Aizawl and Khawzawl have done much better.
Mizoram is also home to people who have fled from Bangladesh and the nearby state of Manipur.
Mizoram has completed biometric enrolment for 62.95% of Myanmar refugees, totaling 19,458 individuals.
The current number of Myanmar nationals in Mizoram is 30,908, with a marginal increase from the previous week.
Champhai district has the highest refugee concentration but the lowest enrolment rate due to technical issues and high volume.
Aizawl and Khawzawl districts have high enrolment rates, with Khawzawl achieving 94.19% completion.
Mizoram is hosting over 33,000 displaced people from Myanmar, Bangladesh, and 6,953 internally displaced persons from Manipur.
